2015 Young Adult Book to Movie Updates

Insurgent

Filming: Wrapped
Release Date: March 20, 2015
Update: Insurgent tickets are currently on sale! According to Deadline.com, “the film is heading for a $57M three-day box office.” Whoa! I cannot wait to see this one!

Paper Towns

Filming: Post-production
Release Date: June 5, 2015
Update: There’s not a lot out there in the way of teasers, posters or clips, but we know filming has wrapped and who the cast is. Even though movie news is hush hush, it will not dampen my extreme excitement!

I have a couple friends who work in downtown Orlando and said they said part of Orange Ave (where the asparagus tree is!) was closed one day due to filming! Although – fun fact – most of the filming took place in North Carolina (due to tax reasons).

Fallen

Filming: Pre-production; Started filming Feb. 9
Release Date: July 30, 2015
Update: Filming has begun in Hungary, and Lauren Kate has kept followers updated on social media. As filming only started earlier this month, there’s not a lot of photos or details out yet.

Kate said in a recent interview with Random House Australia: “The script is great, the director is great, and I’m thrilled with the progress so far,”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Filming: Post-production
Release Date: November 20, 2015
Update: It’s FINALLY coming. The final Hunger Games movie. After a slow and teary Part 1, I’m ready for the action (and yes, death) in Part 2.

If you love super big screens, get excited because The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be released in IMAX! It’s also reported that “Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated that they were looking for sequel or prequel possibilities.”

Interesting…

And for fun, I added this 2016 release:

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Filming: Currently Filming
Release Date: March 4, 2016
Update: Cast news: Samuel L. Jackson is Barron, Eva Green is Miss Peregrine and Asa Butterfield is Jacob Portman.

With Tim Burton as the director, I think this movie is going to be epic. Which means I better read it finally. *crosses fingers against nightmares*

Thanks for that- I hadn’t seen the Insurgent trailer yet, and it looks just as fun as the first movie was! Thank goodness I already read the book.

In terms of Hunger Games, I don’t see how they could do a prequel or sequel that wouldn’t just be more of the same (thus tiring the whole journey). What I loved about it was that it was about the characters and their internal drivers, not about the post-modern world (which has been done before), so I’ll be sad if the movie becomes a franchise entirely about explosions and special FX.

So when is Hello, I Love You becoming a movie? 😉

Tim Burton is directing Peregrine? Oh dear. Might have to make sure I watch that in the daytime O_O The book was creepy enough on its own!

Arghhhh! So many great movies. I didn’t realize Insurgent was already out. I am super excited for Paper Towns and I CAN’T WAIT till they release a trailer. I need it! I am also super excited for Mockingjay Part 2. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has been on my TBR for a while. I didn’t know they were making a movie. Going to read that one this year for sure!
