FYI: I just added a Features page in the main menu that has a complete listing of RBR original features!
Paramount just released a poster for the the new movie Young Adult that’s being directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody, the screenwriter for Juno (love that movie!).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie stars Charlize Theron and chronicles the life of an “alcoholic writer of young-adult novels who, on a whim, decides to return to the small town that she left behind years ago to aggressively pursue her ex-boyfriend from high school.”
I’m really interested to see what this movie’s all about because I really loved the screenwriting by Diablo Cody in Juno, and I have a feeling the same quirky, teen-speak phrasing will pop up in Young Adult.
Also, this movie got me thinking about all the real young adult novelists whose lives I’d love to see documented in a movie.
I would definitely watch movies about these authors’ lives:
1Holly Black– She’s cooky and interesting and super successful. I’d love to see what her writing process looks like.
2 Meg Cabot– She’s written tons and tons of books, and I’d love to find out more about her personal life and how she balances everything.
3Stephanie Meyer– How did a stay-at-home mother of three write some of the most popular YA books of the last 10 years??
4Roald Dahl– He’s written some of the classics- Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Witches. I would love to see how he became so inspired.
5Sarah Dessen– She seems so sweet and nice, and I’d love to hear about her path to being published.
6Suzanne Collins– What is the mind behind these fierce books like?! I’m dying to know!
What authors’ lives would you want to see made into movies and why?
P.S. I love this image below of Charlize Theron from the set of Young Adult– she’s probably never looked this disheveled. Aso that dog is ADORABLE!! So fluffy!!
