Hello and welcome to my fantasy book blog! The mantra I often repeat to myself is Read, Breathe, Relax. This is mainly due to the fact that I’m a classic detail-oriented planner. My personal escape is opening a book and settling down for a good read. If it involves coffee and some pie, so much the better.
Who I Am:
My name is Lisa, and I’m a professional writer/editor and super, mega avid reader. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Literature (which helped keep me sane by the time I was an upper classman).
This past April, I married the most wonderful man in the world, whom I lovingly call Beard or BeardFace. The other member of our family is an orange tabby cat, Meow Meow (please contact my husband for naming details). His favorite past-time is to run around our apartment galloping like a horse and generally wreacking havoc on fringed tablecloths and catnip mice.
I’m so excited about life and my future, and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen! I do know with certainty one thing- along this crazy path in life, I plan to read as many good books as I can.
Other than reading, I love writing, editing, scrapbooking, laughing, coffee, raspberry pie, zumba, journaling, picking at my nails and collecting quirky friends.
Why I Read:
I’ve been reading fantasy/sci fi novels since I first picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when I was in the fifth grade. My mom was going through radiation treatments after undergoing breast cancer surgery, and I tagged along to all her appointments. I realized pretty quickly that sitting alone in an empty waiting room was really, really boring and hurriedly bought the now-infamous children’s book (with the coolest cover I had ever seen). Even though my mom’s been in remission for over 13 years (praise God!), I never stopped reading about wizards and dragons and magic.
What I Read:
In this blog, I will review fantasy and young adult novels with maybe a dash of sci/fi. You may find that the YA books I choose usually have some fantasy elements, too.
I would love to hear about any book suggestions that you may have! Please use the Contact page to make any recommendations or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
