Book News: Inheritance Book 4 Details Released

Check out the Inheritance book 4 giveaway happening on the blog HERE!

Christopher Paolini, a successful 27-year-old author, released details today about the 4th and final installment of the popular Inheritance series.

The Deets:

Book 4Title: Inheritance

Release Date: November 8, 2011

Publisher: Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers (Random House imprint)

Initial Formats: Hardcover, eBook

Previous Books: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr

I read Eragon when it was first published in 2002, and LOVED this series. It reminds me of The Lord of the Rings, but I was also reading those books at the time and ate it up.

Eragon describes exactly what I thought a dragon-human relationship would be like: a loving, intimate friendship. Plus the magic in the book is awesome- I love it when the naming of people and objects plays a role in magic systems.

If you haven’t read the first book, maybe we should have a re-read challenge (like the Harry Potter challenge last year)!!

For more information, you can find the author’s website here and the fan-based community here.

Has anyone read the Inheritance series? If not, are you interested in reading the book (maybe before Inheritance is released in November)??

Has anyone else seen Eragon, the movie? …It was pretty awful 🙁

About Lisa Parkin

I'm a hardcore lover of young adult fiction and have been reviewing books since 2011. Other interests include Downton Abbey, heat lightning storms, Harry Potter land and (begrudingly) one orange tabby.
  • The re-read challenge is a great idea! I’ve only read the first 2 in this series. I remember it being really suspenseful too, but for some reason I never got around to the 3rd book…probably because it takes so darn long for the next book to come out! It’s taken 9 years..geez. lol. But yes, I’m up to a re-read challenge before November rolls around!

Kelli- I know! I don’t think I ever read Brisingr either! I kinda lost track of the whole series until now!

Jessica- It’s good to know everyone’s up for another reading challenge! 🙂

Diana- I heard that too-that Christopher Paolini was like, oh yeah, I can’t fit everything into this last book. Let’s do a 4th lol The movie was just awful. The only redeeming part was the CG dragon.

  • Oh man, I LOVE these books. I was so excited to find out that the last book was coming out. I think a challenge is in order!

  • I have been reading these books since Eragon was first published. It was originally supposed to be a trilogy, so when I bought the third book I expected it to be the last. As I got towards the end, I was thinking “There is no way he is going to resolve this in 50 pages.” I flipped to the end of the book and discovered his note that he was going to publish a fourth book (why couldn’t he have put that at the beginning?). I have been waiting in suspense since then, so I am really glad this book is coming out soon.

P.S. I have seen the movie and it was a poor representation of the book and a pretty terrible movie all around.

  • Wow! I’m excited! Can’t wait to read this book. I think I need to catch up on the others. I liked the movie, but that ‘s just me. What can I say! LOL Thanks for the info Lisa:)

  • Oh yeah. I’m really looking forward to this book coming out November 8th. 🙂 I’ve been enjoying this series for some time.

I have to say the movie was good. But when I read the book and LOVED it, I realized how bad the movie was. I really enjoyed the book sooooo much more than the movie.

    • Lisa

Melissa- that’s awesome! This last book is a long time coming! I agree about the movie too- it was only bad in relation to the book. And…there have been no follow up movies either= a bad sign. lol

  • I have yet to read this series. But I have decided to take a part in the re-read/read challenge. Plus I can add the books to my 50 book challenge 🙂 So i will start the series I guess in april 🙂

as far as the movie goes, I didnt read the book so I dont know what to compare it to. But I know that they usually always cut out stuff in the movies.

  • I have the first three books sitting in my bookshelf. My husband and nephew read them and I had them on my “to read” list so I would go for the re-read/read challenge as well.

I did the same thing! When I was reading Brisingr, I was like this can’t be it! I was very upset that I knew I was going to have to wait for the next book. So don’t feel bad, because you were not the only person that it happened to! Ever since then I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t read any series of books until they were all published. I am extremely impatient!
