Book Review: Lord of the Changing Winds by Rachel Neumeier

Happy Sunday! I recently wrote a review of the Lord of the Changing Winds for Fantasy Faction, a new site dedicated to a wide range of fantasy novels. You can check out the original post here.

Let me know what you think! 🙂

It was a tough review to write because I had such mixed feelings. The pages did NOT turn easily during the first half of the book but began to pick up after I detected some slight romantic foreshadowing. 😉

Lord of the Changing Winds was both solid and shaky at the same time. It had some unique elements that pushed the plot in stops and starts. I would have stopped had I not committed to writing the review for Fantasy Faction.

As a reader or reviewer, have you continued reading books with slow starts? Or, did you stop? What motivated you to keep reading or to put it down?

About Lisa Parkin

I'm a hardcore lover of young adult fiction and have been reviewing books since 2011. Other interests include Downton Abbey, heat lightning storms, Harry Potter land and (begrudingly) one orange tabby.
  • Went to your review of Lord of the Changing Winds… Great review, Lisa. Sounds like an interesting book. Keep up the good work.

  • Great review, I enjoyed reading it a lot! I liked that you were very honest in your review! I am intrigued by the dragons and griffins, I love mystical creatures, so I might give it a try. But I doubt I will commit to reviewing it, I wouldn’t want to be forced to finish it in case I find it hard to get through.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Evie- thanks so much!! 🙂 It’s hard to be honest sometimes- I really want to like like every book I read, but that’s just unrealistic. :/ Yes, I would recommend trying this over a vacation or a time that you don’t feel pressured to review it (my mistake…lol).

      Thanks again!

  • Hi, I’m going to go check out your review here after I’m done. I read this book too.

I always keep going in the books as I’m afraid I’ll miss out on something. 🙂 And especially if I’m reading the book for review purposes. Some books are a little hard to get into in the beginning. I find as a reader I don’t like the beginnings of a new book or series. So much to try to understand and get into.

Melissa- Thanks for checking out the review! I usually hate to miss out on things too, but, for me, some books are not worth the time commitment. It’s always good to give every book a try, though! 🙂
