Book & Song Soulmates: Icona Pop's "I Love It"

I love the feeling of hearing a song for the first time and falling in love with it; Icona Pop‘s “I Love It” is my new favorite song crush.

Have you heard it yet? If not, let your ears feast on this:

Synth is making a comeback, especially in Sweden, where Icona Pop is from. I love how fun and upbeat the song is.

While listening to the song on full blast while driving home one day, I thought to myself – what book character could relate to this song the most? (Yes, I really think these things. It’s ok to judge me a little).

Book & Song Soulmates: Icona Pop’s “I Love It”

Out of the book characters below, who do you think would relate to this song the most? Which book to movie would play this song during a butt-kicking scene?

  • Mara Dyer from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer: Mara is a bit unbalanced. I think she would definitely crash her car into a bridge just for fun.
  • Mila from Mila 2.0 – This chick can withstand anything – including outrunning the secret government group after her. I’m sure “kill the switch” would have a special meaning to her, too…
  • Georgia Nicolson from Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging: Georgia will do just about anything for a boy – which is the same case when getting revenge.
  • Juliet from The Madman’s Daughter – Juliet could probably relate with doing things to the extreme, what with her crazy dad and all. Plus, she’s had her heart messed with and knows how different two boys can be from each other.

Some radio-version lyrics for reference:

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your stuff into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don’t care, I love it. I don’t care.

You’re on a different road, I’m in the milky way
You want me down on earth, but I am up in space
You’re so so hard to please, we gotta kill this switch
You’re from the 70’s, but I’m a 90’s chick

I love it!
I love it!

What other book characters do you think would shout this Icona Pop song from the top of their lungs?!
