Books Turned Into Movies in 2013

In 2013, the number of books turned into movies is long…and growing! I’m really excited to see these books on the big screen.

Directors, don’t mess these up, OK? We don’t need more terrible adaptations… like Eragon.

Books Turned into Movies 2012

Note: My information came from Squidoo and IMDB. The release dates are subject to change or the movie could be in the early stages and be canceled completely. Annoying but true.

About Lisa Parkin

I'm a hardcore lover of young adult fiction and have been reviewing books since 2011. Other interests include Downton Abbey, heat lightning storms, Harry Potter land and (begrudingly) one orange tabby.

Wow I am looking forward to a bunch of them LOL! Looks like a lot of time will be spent at the movies in 2013 :)

Same here! I’m most excited about Catching Fire! Did you ever read The Host? Hmmm…

  • Meagan

Sounds like I’m hitting the theater more than usual in 2013. I’m really hyped up for Ender’s Game, The Host & Catching Fire. If Delirium & The Giver get made I’d definitely go for those as well.

  • Philip Curl

I really hope they don’t mess up Ender’s Game. It’s one of my favorites, classic sci-fi, even if the sequels tailed off (and keep going, and going). Also interested to see where they decide to end Catching Fire.

Phil – It’s my goal to read Ender’s Game before the movie comes out. I’m so glad to hear you loved it! And, I’m pumped beyond words about Catching Fire!!

      • Meagan

Lisa, you have to read Ender’s Game. Like Philip said, completely classic. I’m also a bit fearful they’ll screw it up. I hope not though. Casting looks good at least.

I MUST LIVE THROUGH THIS YEAR!! 2013 is going to be AH-MAZING !! I can’t believe they are making the second book of Percy Jackson, and Catching Fire, and the Maze Runner, and …. I’m going to list this whole blog if I continue *sigh* SO EXCITED !! You just made my day *night* xD

  • The Muggle

I can’t wait for City of Bones and The Host!
    Great list :)

I heard the filming of Divergent movie will be this year. Evan Daugherty will be the screenwriter.

      Yep! Coming in 2015

  • Alexandralanc

That’s a really good list! I just hope that they don’t mess these up, because Hollywood has a bad habit of doing that. I think The Host already looks wrong — the characters are too young!

The one I’m looking the most forward to is “A Wrinkle In Time”. That’s one of my favorite books, and I would love to see a (good) film adaptation of it!

UGHHH Can we just stop with the dystopian stuff already? (Except the Giver, of course.) I sure wish some of my favorite books would get made into movies. Princess Academy or Deerskin or Summers at Castle Auburn or something like that. Seems like fantasy has fallen back down the pit of despair, and it’s nothing but tired old Hunger Games copycats. Whatever sells, eh?

  • Amber Elise

Is Delirium really being made into a movie? As much as I ADORE that book, I feel like it wouldn’t be enough for a movie. Kind of boring even.

    • Julia

I might just watch it to see the cows break in.
