Breaking Dawn Movie Review

I just got out of seeing the Breaking Dawn movie premiere!! I don’t know how coherent I’m going to be at 3 a.m., but here goes nothing.

You know that I didn’t have too many expectations, so here are my thoughts about the movie:

Breaking Dawn Movie Review:

Two Warnings-

If you are the LEAST bit squeamish, LEAVE the theater for the birthing scene. It’s so, so, so nasty and very graphic (we’re talking visually and audibly) AND very long! We’re talking 10-15 minutes- no joke! One of my friends almost passed out…it was that bad. Plus, Bella looks like a skeleton towards the end. It can be really hard to watch.
If you are a teenager and you’re seeing this movie with the parents- WARNING: the entire honeymoon scenes could be pretty awkward. They don’t leave a lot to the imagination, if you know what I mean…

The rest of the movie-

Charlie is the best-cast character of the WHOLE movie. I loved every scene he was in.
The newest wolf, Seth, is freaking adorable and I hope he’s in Breaking Dawn: Part 2 a bunch!
The “imprinting” part was. just. RIDICULOUS! In a hilariously amazing way. Oh, Jacob!!
Billy Black is with a strange woman the whole time. I completely forget who she is, but it’s so random they never really mention what’s up with her..

One thing I will mention is the lack of a serious plot. Breaking Dawn revolves a few major events that have little to no action (and I don’t mean pushing out a vampire baby…). The main things that happened were 1. Bella and Edward’s wedding (very, very long) 2. Edward and Bella’s honeymoon (way too long) and 3. Bella’s pregnancy (looking like a skeleton, hunching over in pain and being ripped open by her offspring).

Oh, there was also wolf pack drama, but it was sort of silly. When pack communicates in their werewolf form, it’s just sort of funny. Or so my sleep-deprived mind thought at the time…

Breaking Dawn was so random at times- I honestly don’t think I’ve formed an full option yet…but that may be because my brain is firing on all cylinders right now. I’m definitely interesting in seeing the second part!

Oh…did I mention that the showed The Hunger Games trailer in the theater?!?! Pretty amazing!

I’m going to go see it this Saturday with my sister and ever since the first movie I’ve learned that the books are so much better!
I’m really not looking forward to this movie because of a) the birthing scene and b) the sex scene. I’m not a prude, but come on this is not a R rated movie.
I seriously can’t wait for Hunger Games!!! I think I actually prefer that one to Twilight Saga any day.
I also think someone should make Divergent into a movie! I can’t help but keep rereading it till the 2nd book comes out.

Good review, Lisa! I still can’t believe you typed this at 3am!! Looking back, I am just like, did all that really happen? Oh my goodness. It was so crazy but fun to see with a group of girlfriends! I think this book, even if it weren’t ridiculous, doesn’t translate well into a movie since so much of it was internal dialogue–Bella’s and Jacob’s. It did make for an entertaining night, and I’m curious to see Bella as a vampire and Renesmee as a fast-growing baby/Jacob’s “girlfriend”(?) in the next movie!

I think the Hunger Games trailer was my favorite part lol! After every movie, I like Bella’s character less and less, which is not the case with the books.
Honeymoon = INCREDIBLY AWKWARD but sooooooooooo hilarious!

You hit on everything I plan to hit on when I post my opinion. I don’t think you’re off base at all. I also loved Billy and Seth. The woman with Billy is Sue Clearwater, Seth and Leah’s mom. Billy and Charlie and her have sort of their own love triangle in the book. But, yeah, they didn’t really mention who she was or why she was there.

At first, I thought to wolf communicating scene was cool when it was all disjointed and all the wolves were speaking and you could see the flash of images that Jacob saw. But, then when the drama happened and Jacob and Sam just talked, it was laugh out loud funny. My friend leaned over to me during that scene and said, “Why hello, Optimus Prime!”

And, during the birthing scene, my friend also said, “Um, Edward, you have a little placenta on your lip.” We busted out laughing during what was supposed to be a very dramatic scene, lol.

But, I secretly loved the movie even with all its downfalls.

I thought the movie was great! I forgot about the imprinting scene … it was so strange! I do like how Jacob saw Renesmee in the future–and she looked a lot older than I expected. And yes, the wolves “talking” to one another was dumb. However, the rest of the movie was great. I think it was more or less about Bella and how the wolves would kill Edward and the baby if she died … I loved the line at the end where Edward tells the vampires that the wolves can’t kill the baby since Jacob imprinted with her, that it’s their ultimate rule. I can’t wait to see the next one!

I really don’t think I want to see this one but thanks for this review. I really hate the imprinting business with Jacob. Its just plain incestuous and unnatural even for a supernatural LOL
