Today’s FF Question: Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

A: This really is a super tough question, so here are my best answers:

C.S. Lewis- What a cutie 😉

1An epic writer: C.S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity). C.S. Lewis has said some of the most profound statements that I’ve ever read. I’d love to sit down with ole Clive Staples (yes, that’s his real name!) and ask him about his faith, his writing and his deep understanding of the written word.

One of my fave C.S. Lewis quotes: “Humans are amphibians- half spirit and half animal. As spirits they belong to the eternal world, but as animals they inhabit time.”

2A newbie: Veronica Roth (Divergent).  I follow her blog (http://veronicarothbooks.blogspot.com/), which often includes advice, but I’d love to talk with her about the recent explosion of her debut novel and how that’s affected her. Plus, I’d love to hear her perspective on the publishing industry and what her first experience with that was like.

3A possible bestie: Sarah Dessen (The Truth About Forever). Sarah Dessen just seems so down to earth and friendly. I’d love to just grab dinner with her and chat about books, family and life in general. If you don’t follow her on Twitter you really should- she’s super funny and shares a lot about her life, which I find really interesting. You can find her here: http://twitter.com/#!/sarahdessen.

This week at Read.Breathe.Relax, I:

  • Reviewed my favorite parts of the HP7 Part 2 movie (spoiler free!)
  • Took a poll for which book I needed to give away next. P.S. The voting’s over :/
  • Reviewed Starcrossed by Joshephine Angelini
  • Listed the Top Ten books I think should be required reading for teens
  • Asked “How do you manage your TBR list?” There will be a follow up post soon!

And, most importantly:

  • The giveaway for Spellbound and The Girl in the Steel Corset opened Thursday! 2 winners + 2 days left to enter! Enter here!!! 😀

What authors would you love to have a heart-to-heart with?

About Lisa Parkin

I'm a hardcore lover of young adult fiction and have been reviewing books since 2011. Other interests include Downton Abbey, heat lightning storms, Harry Potter land and (begrudingly) one orange tabby.
  • Valerie

Oh I met Sarah Dessent at a book signing and she is fabulous! Really enjoyed talking to her.

  • I still haven’t read anything by Sarah Desson yet. And, I still haven’t read Divergent. I really want to, though. I just need to get to it, lol.

  • Taylor

Great answers! I think it would be amazing to sit and talk to C.S. Lewis, I’m a huge fan of his books. I also think it would be cool to talk to Veronica Roth, I absolutely loved Divergent!

    Here’s mt FF post: http://thoughts-of-an-endless-dreamer.blogspot.com/2011/07/follow-friday-6.html

Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Did you heard they’re already going to make Divergent into a movie?! If that’s true, Im going to FLIP out!! Thanks for stopping by, Taylor!

  • Teddybrgrrl

I love Sarah Dessen’s books! And CS Lewis would be pretty sweet to meet. Nice picks 🙂 Here’s my FF if you want to check it out!

    -Jessica (Peace Love Books)

  • BJ Rae

I’ll never forget receiving a boxed set of the Chronicles of Narnia for my 10th birthday. My parents had to pry them out of my hands to make me eat at mealtimes for a week! 🙂 My birthday is in June, and I read the series three times that summer. Lately I’ve been reading them aloud to my kids, and then we’re watching the movies – and picking out all the inconsistencies! It’s fun to see another generation loving the stories.

    Great author choice!

    • That’s what’s awesome about that series- it’s timeless. Parents and kids can enjoy these books together! Thanks for stopping by!!

  • Denna

God.. I’ve not read Divergent yet, but with all the amazing reviews for it, I think I should hurry up already!
    New follower, by the way!

  • Hi, and Happy Belated FF from a new follower. Interesting choices, and it’s nice that you picked a relatively new author.

  • Hopping through. I’d love to meet CS Lewis. I’d want to ask him about Narnia and also his Christian philosophy.

    • Me too!! And doesn’t he look so friendly in his pics? He seems like the type to give good advice too!
