Follow Friday Question: ACK! Your favorite book/movie character (example Hermione Granger played by the Emma chick) just walked into the room! Who is it and what would be your first reaction? You get extra points if you include visual stimulation.

My answer: Maybe it’s because her books have been around for so long, but it seems like Jane Austen’s work always gets made into really great movies. I recently watched Emma and love the version with Gwyneth Paltrow, and would definitely freak out if I ever met this actress in person!

I really love the character of Emma because she’s got a great heart- trying to set up her friends with future spouses and all- but her execution is a little…lacking- in the best way possible. She’s adorably bumbling yet very graceful and respected among her peers. I would definitely want her as a friend. :)

Extra Points: In the video below, fast forward to minute 8:24. Emma says the best lines of the whole movie: “I love John….I hate John!!”

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Who’s your fave book/movie character that if you met, you’d freak out?

This is one of my FAVE movies– I know a lot of people who can’t stand this version of Emma (WHY?!) but I absolutely love it– she is so funny and quirky, and her facial expressions kill me! :) Great choice!

I would say someone like Sydney Carton because I fell in love with him when reading A Tale of Two Cities in high school. Sure he was a drunk, but he was depressed and wanted companionship!

I finally got around to starting Divergent yesterday (and sadly finishing it). I’m angry that I read it that fast because it was so good and now I have to wait for Insurgent.

I think Emma is a great choice!

Awww yes! I loved Sydney!! He did the right thing in the end :/ I’m SO glad you’re loving Divergent!! Woo hoooo!!

There’s certainly been a lot of Austen but you’re the first Emma I’ve seen for the day! I think my favourite part of the movie was during the archery when John says “Try not to kill my dogs”
