WAT. Is this real life? I’ve been talking about YA books here for 5 years?!
And you guys are still reading my crazy thoughts?! Thank you! Also….why?
RBR Blogiversary + Second Annual Embarrassing Trip Down Memory Lane
Here we are again. Another year under the blogging belt. If you’re new here, a casual reader or just clicked here once for the free stuffs, THANK YOU.
I remember when my blog was something only myself and my mom read (she still comments on Uppercase’s Facebook page and is pretty easy to spot if you’re looking…). That was ok with me and would be ok with me now, but I love that I have connected with so many people in real life and online through Read.Breathe.Relax.
Thank you so much for the support and love over the years!
So…Last year, I embarrassed myself by highlighting some RBR-original features that totally bombed. It was so much fun – and I have so much material – that I decided to do it again this year.
- Crafty Reader: Circa 2014. I decided to make a clutch out of a fancy book, and thought, “You know what? I can do some bookish craft project once a month!” This post series was so successful, I did it all of ONE TIME. I have since come to the realization that 1. I’m straight up awful at DIY and 2. Should never attempt book crafting again.
- Book Nerdspiration: Circa 2013. I really loved the idea for this feature: highlight fellow fictional and famous book lovers! The problem is after Hermione Granger and Rory Gilmore, it got harder and harder to fill a WEEKLY spot with new and interesting book nerds. I don’t blame myself for this one – I blame Hollywood and Netflix for not creating more book-obsessed characters. You had one job, people.
- RBR Throwback Reads: Circa 2014. Oh gosh. This one really is pretty embarrassing. So, yeah, I thought it would be a great idea to create my own monthly bookstagram photo challenge WITH A TWIST. The twist, though, was very complicated and hard to follow. You know, Throwback Thursday on Instagram? My idea was to do that but with books – so you can post a book you read last year but according to a monthly Thursday list I created. So more like Top Ten Tuesday but for photos of books on Instagram…It was confusing and weird to follow and it just tanked like the sad whale it was. RIP, photo meme.
Looking back at these makes me seriously laugh and strangely proud. I like trying new things; they can’t all stick. It pushes me creatively, so it wasn’t all in vain.
If you were around for those posts, thanks for giving RBR another shot .
Now for the good bit: Open to US only. Must be 18 years of age or older.
