It’s Valentine’s Day! Whether you love, hate or feel indifferent about this day of love and romance, here’s something to get excited about : a list of the best Romantic Fantasy novels! Woooo! If you’re not with a special someone on this overly-commercialized day, then you can always fall in love with a good book, right?
Confession: I almost always search a book’s back cover description for two key words: romance and love. It’s embarrassing but true. I’d even settle for those essential words in the 2-sentence author reviews on the inside flap. I love stories with healthy bit of romance. Romance can save a book from its slower points, keep pages turning and enthrall women of all ages. (Perfect example of all of the above=Twilight.)
My favorite Romantic Fantasy books are:
- Graceling and Fire by Kristen Cashore
- Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier (or anything else by her)
- The Charmed Sphere by Catherine Asaro
- Storm Glass, Sea Glass and Spy Glass by Maria V. Snyder
- The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley
- Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon
- Wizard of the Grove by Tanya Huff
- Mystic and Rider by Sharon Shinn (as well as the other books in the Thirteenth House series)
- The Mercy Thompson books by Patricia Briggs
I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have!
Just thinking about my favorite romantic fantasy reads puts me in a super nostalgic mood. I love love. This weekend Tim and I celebrated our first married Valentine’s Day by going out to our favorite restaurant. It’s a Japanese steakhouse that is absolutely amazing- I could seriously take a bath in their white sauce.
After dinner we headed out to see Gnomeo and Juliet. We thought it would be a cute, fun animated film. Alas, it was lame-o. The Elton John music was great, plus he even made a little cameo. haha!
Look at the gorgeous sunset!
Sunday, we headed out to Leu gardens, where we got married! In the picture below is where we actually said our vows- well, it was probably a litte more to the left.
If there was any day of my life that I could relive again, it would absolutely be the day I joined my heart and life with Tim’s.
I’m so thankful to have found such an amazing man! We’ve been married almost a year, and I can’t believe what a crazy and amazing journey we’ve experienced together so far!
Yay for love and all that jazz. I hope everyone has had an amazing day of romance and reading… (warning, warning cheese-fest approaching!!)…because everyone deserves their own happy ending.
I had to…gah, the love!!!
