Top Ten Books Books on My Spring and Summer 2013 TBR List

sweet peril by wendy higgins

1The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson- Holy mother. This is it, guys. THE LAST BOOK! I’m freaking out!!

2Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas- After Throne of Glass, Maas can do no wrong in my book. I’m just hoping this second book is as good as the first.

3Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins- Sweet Evil was definitely a steamy-type read. I’m not sure about the actually plot, but I’ll be reading it regardless.

4The Program by Suzanne Young- This book reminds me a bit of Delirium with the whole devoid of emotion thing, but I’m definitely intrigued.

5The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan- The marketing text claims this book is perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare and Libbra Bray. Also, it’s set in Paris. SOLD.

6The Collector by Victoria Scott- With a TON of stellar reviews and a seemingly interesting perspective on heaven/hell, I can’t wait ot get my hands on this book.

7The Pirate’s Wish by Cassandra Rose Clarke- More pirates, more romantic entanglements. I loved The Assassin’s Curse and am thankful I didn’t have to wait too long for this sequel.

8The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau - Another dystopia, another day. This one definitely sound worth reading thought.

9Chantress by Amy Butler Greenfield— Magic in England during the 1600s with magic land-sirens (my personal take on the story). YES!

10The Deepest Night by Shana Abe— AGH! I loved The Sweetest Dark. BRING IT ON!

What spring/summer books are you dying to read??

Top Ten Characters I Would Crush On If I Were Also A Fictional Character

Top Ten Characters I Would Crush On If I Were Also A Fictional Character

Hello, Tobias!

theo james divergent movie

1Tobias, aka Four- I love strong, silent types. Four has that going on. He’s rudely distant to Tris in the beginning, but she eventually wore him down.

2Perry, Under the Never Sky- He’s wild and has powers. He’s called a savage. Aria was lost from the start.

3Valek, Poison Study- The steam between Valek and Yelena was CRAZY. I especially love the scene where she’s drunk and rubs his shoulders on accident. Haven’t we all had that moment? ;)

4Peeta- Ah, Peeta. You took so much abuse from Katniss and yet you still hung on for her. That’s admirable and a little stupid…but still admirable.

5Charlie, The Perks of Being A Wallflower- Charlie is sweet and innocent. He just needs some friends and a hug!

6Mal, Shadow and Bone- I love it took Mal SO LONG to figure out his feelings for Alina. Typical male denseness.

7Mr. Darcy- I don’t know how much I even need to go into this. His arrogance would get annoying, but Mr. Darcy is Mr. Darcy.

8Cassel, White Cat- Cassel is a rebel – someone who your parents would hate but who will probably get you arrested.

9Trevor, Pivot Point— I just finished this book, so excuse me for gushing. Trevor is a cowboy, he is a great older brother and he is wounded (physically and emotionally). He needs YOU!

10Warner, Unravel Me— After Destroy Me, I am completely won over. TEAM WARNER all the way!!

Who do you wish was your book boyfriend??

Top Ten Books I Recommend the Most

the truth about forever sarah dessen top ten books i recommend the most

1Divergent by Veronica Roth- This is the book I recommend to people who have read The Hunger Games and are looking for something like it. I tell them Divergent is basically BETTER than The Hunger Games.

2Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi- Another top fave that I have told all my friends about.

3Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier- Because this book is basically fantasy 101. It’s got it all – epic story, epic romance and epic evil.

4Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo- I just fell in love with this book last year. I’m sure my friends are starting to get- if they’re not already – annoyed with me.

5Cinder by Marissa Meyer- A series that masterfully retells old fairytales into science fiction stories is something I know a lot of people would love.

6Poison Study series by Maria V. Snyder- It’s just one of my all-time favorite YA fantasy series. Valek=swoon.

7The Selection by Kiera Cass- For my friends who don’t read a lot of YA, I recommend this book because it’s like the bachelor meets The Hunger Games.

8The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen- I venture into contemporary fiction every once and awhile, and when I do, I read Dessen first.

9Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs— For anyone who loves urban fantasy (which I haven’t read in awhile!), this series is the ultimate.

10Graceling by Kristin Cashore— I think this book appeals to so many different types of readers. It’s not even strictly YA.

What books do you recommend the most??

Top 10 Books on My Spring 2013 To-Be-Read List

spirit and dust rosemary clement-moore

1Spirit and Dust by Rosemary Clement-Moore- I like the murder-solving aspect of this book. Plus, you know, speaking to the dead is pretty cool too.

2The Elite by Kiera Cass- I don’t care what anyone says about The Selection – it worked for me! I’m so excited for this book!!

3Of Triton by Anna Banks- Another great debut series from last year. There is a ton of romance and a lot of the ocean.

4Goddess by Josephine Angelini- Wow, the final installment of the Starcrossed series. Team Orion or Team Lucas will also be decided.

5Dark Triumph by R.L. LaFevers- Our favorite crime-fighting nun returns. Well, actually I think the main character is different, but still.

6Star Cursed by Jessica Spotswood- Another sequel finally seeing the light of day. I’m anxious to find out who’s outed as a witch in this Salem-area novel

7Dance of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin- More disease, more of me washing my hands furiously.

8The Girl with the Iron Touch by Kady Cross- YES! Steampunk! These types of books have fallen away from popularity a bit, but I love this series, and I can’t believe it’s going to be over.

9Linked by Imogen Howson— A debut novel about a girl who sees visions of another girl…who looks exactly like her.

10Reboot by Amy Tinter— This is another futuristic, robot-ish type of book that sounds AWESOME. Can’t wait

Top 10 Authors That I’d Put On My Auto-Buy List

Today’s post is really about trust, isn’t it? How much you trust authors to not let you down and deliver something you’ll really love. The authors I’ve listed have not betrayed my trust and have shown me time and again how talented they really are.

Top 10 Authors I’d Put on My Auto-Buy List

holly black author

1Holly Black- I’ve read Tithe and all of the Curse Worker books by this author. It’s enough to persuade me I’d like anything written by her.

2Kristen Cashore- Loved it all. Need them all. Want more.

3Maggie Stiefvater- I only read the first book of the Shiver series and then The Raven Boys last year and The Scorpio Races the year before that. Her style seems to change and adapt, and I really like how unexpectedly awesome her writing is.

4Leigh Bardugo- I can’t even go there. I just finished Siege and Storm and I’m DYING for more. Bardugo better bring in the final book. AGH!

5Sharon Shinn- Although Shinn’s most recent book had me doubting her…I’d still at least try anything new she writes.

6Juliet Marillier- Omg, this author. All of her stuff is lyrical and folklorish and rich. If you haven’t read her Daughter of the Forest series – you should. It’s not YA, but it’s straight up fantasy-awesomeness.

7Sarah Dessen- I haven’t read her latest stuff, but Dessen was my go-to author in high school. Her books are so deep and full of amazing life lessons. LEGIT.

8Marissa Meyer- We’ve only had a short relationship, but I think Meyer and I are in it for the long haul.

9Maria V. Snyder— I have LITERALLY read all of her books. Why stop now, right?!

10Shannon Hale/strong>— Goose Girl hooked me back in the day. Plus I love all her priness-y books. And, she’s awesome on the Twitters.

What author(s) would you put on your auto-buy list?
