Pages & Pairings: Delirium

Do you ever eat or drink specific foods or beverages when you’re reading? I always seem to crave some food item after reading a good book. Maybe that isn’t normal…but it’s definitely fun!

I’ve started this new feature, Pages & Pairings, as another way to enjoy the experience of reading.

Pages and Pairings

Pages & Pairings is a new Read.Breathe.Relax. feature that matches up our favorite book and stories with tasty food and drinks. Let’s make reading a well-rounded sensory experience!

As I recently read Delirium AND Valentine’s Day just passed, I thought a love-themed first post would be appropriate. For me, nothing says love-induced deliria like red velvet cake. and raspberry mojitos.

Ingredients for a Great Read:

  • 2 best friends
  • 1 forbidden romance
  • 2 cups of rebellion
  • 2 tbsp sweat worked up from running around the city
  • 1 dash of deliria
  • 1/2 cup of bittersweetness

How This Pairing Works Together: Red Velvet is indulgence in cake form. Just like Lena, we need to give in to our deeper urges and do what’s best for us! In her case it was going to a party with boys and in ours its eating something rich and fattening.

Wash away your guilt (of eating something bad for you AND for sneaking out of your house) by drinking a refreshing raspberry mojito.

The combined sugar high will leave you feeling giddy, restless and unable to think about anything else! Oh, falling in love eating till your stomach bursts!

Red Velvet Cheesecake Recipe

This recipe can be found at Willow Bird Talking and is at a higher difficulty level. If you’re a beginner cook like me, I would recommend doing a test run first or setting aside some time to go through the recipe slowly.

This awesome cheesecake looks TOTALLY WORTH IT, though, doesn’t it? Nom!!

Raspberry Mojito Recipe

Raspberry Mojito

On the other hand, this raspberry mojito from Pink Parsley is super easy and doesn’t require many ingredients: mint leaves, raspberries, sugar, rum, lime and club soda!

I will be making this pronto!

I hope everyone had a very romantic week! If not, then indulge yourself in the pure deliria these recipes will be induce! May you have sugar dreams and sweet days!
