Top Ten 2014 Debuts I’m Excited For

So I’ve posted a list of 2014 YA sequels published by month, so it only makes sense to give the debut books some love, right?

Here are my top picks:

1Tsarina by J. Nelle Patrick, Jackson Pearce– I love books about Russia. I don’t know what it is. Maybe the supposed romance of a bygone era? Sure, let’s go with that.

2The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski – The buzz surrounding this book is crazy. The reccs from bloggers who I respect only helps. I need this NOW!

3Landry Park by Bethany Hagen– This book is being described as “Downton Abbey meets The Selection.” So yeah, I need it if this is remotely true.

4Half Bad by Sally Green– Male witchery in modern day England. Hmmm, I’m intrigued.

5Deception’s Princess by Esther M. Friesner– This seems very Juliet Marillier to me, i.e. Celtic folklore retellings. It feels very Brave (Pixar movie) to me.

6Killer Instinct by S.E. Green– Ever since The Naturals, I’ve been craving another murder mystery/psychological thriller. This definitely seems like it would fill the gap.

7Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne– There’s always something appealing about the whole street urchin rising up in the world that always gets me. Plus, assassins – in novels – are always cool.

8The Young Elites by Marie Lu– Three societies with supernatural abilities are battling for supremacy in a Renaissance like setting. And Marie Lu, so, yes, I think I will.

9The Goldscryer Saga #1 by Rae Carson – There’s little info, but seriously it’s flippin’ Rae Carson. I will read anything you ever write, dear author!

10After the End by Amy Plum– My token dystopia for the year. I’m sure there will be others, but this one looks the most promising.
