Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition
Sharon Shinn– I absolutely ADORE Sharon Shinn. Her Thirteenth House series is amazing and her Archangel series is beautiful. More people should know about her!
William Goldman– He wrote The Princess Bride book, and I think it gets lost amid the movie fervor of the famous movie. It’s seriously a hilarious read.
Robin McKinley– I think in the fantasy world, Robin McKinkley gets some props, but in general in the YA realm, she’s a hidden gem. For those who loved The Girl of Fire and Thorn series, McKinley is just your speed.
Sherwood Smith– Another YA fantasy writer few people have heard of. What kills me is that Sherwood has written TONS of YA fantasy books. “I get no respect. No respect at all.” (Michael Scott impersonating Rodney Dangerfield).
Jaclyn Moriarty– When I was in high school, I read Feeling Sorry for Celia a dozen times. It was the first book I read that had a different format (written in letters). Has anyone else read it?!
Marianne Curley– I hope Curley makes a comeback with her new Hidden series. I think she’s been off the grid for a few years. Gotta cut the lady some slack.
Holly Black– Ok, I’m sure many have heard of Holly Black, but I know very few people who have read her Curse Workers series. IT’S THE BEST!!! Read it now!!
Marissa Meyer– With Divergent getting all the attention lately (not that I’m complaining), I feel like people like Marissa Meyer should be having their time in the limelight too. I put up a fight, but these books are EPIC. And I don’t use that term lightly.
Tahereh Mafi— Girl knows how to write a romance. I want to read everything she will ever write EVER.
Michelle Hodkin— The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer got very little hype in my opinion. That could be for the best, but I thought the psychological twists were brilliant.
