Top Ten Best Bookish Memories

book expo america bea 2012

1Attending BEA last year– What a rush. Seeing other bloggers, meeting publishers and fangirling over fave authors. Definitely a highlight of last year.

2Meeting my awesome pen pal via FYA– Jen over at YAHeart is my pen pal and new-found friend! We were matched up on Forever Young Adult and have met up several times in real life. This is seriously such an amazing bookish moment.

3Reading Jane Eyre for the first time– This is when I realized I loved books with romance. Even though Mr. Rochester is seriously jacked up, I loved his and Jane’s story.

4Letting Harry Potter take me away– Like I say in my About section, reading Harry Potter when I was 10 got me through a really rough time in my life. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and I would go to all her appointments with her and chill in the waiting room. Reading these books helped me get away a little bit from the scary reality of my life. (And praise God, she’s been cancer-free for almost 15 years!)

5Passing books back and forth to my friends– The only thing as amazing as a great book is sharing it with my friends. I’m lucky to have a lot of people who share my same taste in books.

6Connecting with other amazing book bloggers and readers online– There are so many people in the blogging community who are just so kind and open. I love meeting new friends – even if we don’t ever meet.

7Getting Spindlers signed by Lauren Oliver— This was at BEA last year, and it was so surreal to see Lauren Oliver in real life. She’s so cute!!

8Chatting with Rae Carson about religion and The Crown of Embers— I think Rae Carson’s books are some of the most amazing YA fantasy novels out there right now. I was really fortunate to be able to chat with her recently. She’s a very interesting person.

9Planning to build a custom bookcase– It won’t happen for a little while, but I’m definitely planning on THIS YEAR building a custom bookcase. It’s gonna be big. And, it’s going to have a ladder, a la Beauty and the Beast style.

10Blogging two years in March– Wow, the time has FLOWN by. I can’t believe March will mark my two-year blogiversary. Stay tuned, cuz I’m gonna do something BIG!!!

What is YOUR favorite bookish moment?

Awesome list! I’m so glad your mom is cancer-free and that HP could get you through that rough period. :)

Great memories! Number 4 was so touching; I’m so happy your mom’s cancer-free.

I totally agree about number 5. My coworkers and I share books (and movies) all the time. And Jane Eyre is one of my all-time favorite books.

Wonderful list! I have always wanted to go to BEA, it is on my bucket list so I will make it there one of these years. Probably not this year since I am going to go to another conference in June. Come check out my Top Ten if you have time. :) Happy Reading!
