Top Ten Creepiest Looking Book Covers

Technically, the Top Ten Tuesday prompt was “scariest looking covers,” but let’s be real. I don’t do scary so I would just Google “scary book covers,” and all you’d get are some R.L. Stine and Stephen King books.

Going to YA route, I chose creepy covers instead. These covers won’t induce disgust or horror, just the shivers (and that’s it, hopefully).

Top Ten Creepiest Looking Book Covers

1Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggins– To me, anything with small children involved in something creepy is THE WORST!! Not a fan…

2Friday Never Leaving by Vikki Wakefield– I literally had to turn this book over after leaving it on my nightstand too long. It’s weird because the face is distorted and blurry.

3Asylum by Madeleine Roux– This reminds me a lot of the movie The Ring. That ring girl is creeptastic.

asylum

4Ashes by Isla J. Bick– I started reading Ashes and got SUPER FREAKED OUT in like the first chapter. The cover does a great job of painting that picture.

5Dust & Decay by Jonathan Maberry– Open mouths in anger are not a pretty sight. Especially with “decay” written on the cover…

6Don’t Turn Around by Michelle Gagnon– I actually think this cover is pretty cool. It gives the novel a really cool 3D effect.

7The Possession of Cassie Quinn by Kathryn Knutson– No possessions or demons or spirits for me, thank you. Please enjoy this horrifying cover though.

8This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers – I’m just kind of perplexed…hair in the face?! It definitely says “crazy” and “unbalanced” that’s for sure!

this is not a test

Thanks for the cool post. I think the worst is Friday Never Leaving…creepy indeed. I wouldn’t have it face up on my nightstand either.

  • Lee @shewolfreads

Friday Never Leaving…definitely creepy. Looks like she is trapped under ice. It makes me feel cramped and suffocated when I look at it.

This is a really great (and creepy) list- I’ve never seen quite a few of these covers, and definitely agree that Friday Never Leaving is quite a scary cover.
