Top Ten Older Books On My TBR I Need to Read

I made up my own Top Ten Tuesday prompt cuz I’m so rogue like that.

Top Ten Older Books On My TBR I Need To Read

Top Ten tuesday older books on my tbt

1. Looking for Alaska– by John Green. Funnily enough, this is his very first book and I have neglected it terribly! I’ll make sure I read it before the movie, fo sho.

2. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour– by Morgan Matson. Because I absolutely fell in love with Since You’ve Been Gone, so I figure this is a must-read.

3. The Night Circus– by Erin Morgenstern. I’ve heard really mixed reviews on this one, but I’m still intrigued. Have any of you read it?

4. Across the Universe– by Beth Revis. I love me some YA scifi, and this seems perfect for me.

5. The Summer I Turned Pretty– by Jenny Han. I’m on a mission to read everything Han has ever written. Can’t wait.

6. Wildwood Dancing– by Juliet Marillier. This author is EVERYTHING. I’m honestly ashamed I haven’t read it before now.

7. The Archived– by Victoria Schwab. I was totally blown away by A Darker Shade of Magic despite not really loving Vicious. And, I have only heard great things about this series.

8. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children– by Ransom Riggs. I actually own the first two books, so IDK what is stopping me.

9. Thirteen Reasons Why– by Jay Asher. Another essential YA book I have not managed to get around to.

10. Gilt -by Katherine Longshore. I am in desperate need of a good historical fiction book!! This one involves Henrey VIII, so double points!

What older books on your TBR have you been meaning to read?

About Lisa Parkin

I'm a hardcore lover of young adult fiction and have been reviewing books since 2011. Other interests include Downton Abbey, heat lightning storms, Harry Potter land and (begrudingly) one orange tabby.

I’ve read Looking for Alaska, I thought it was very good. I haven’t read any of Green’s other books though. Book Riot loves The Night Circus. I keep meaning to read it. LOVED Wildwood Dancing and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Fun fact: Ransom Riggs was college friends with John Green.

  • Emily Willey

The night circus is hands down one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read, and one of my most reccomended.

  • Wren

The Archived is wonderful. Victoria Schwab is a GODDESS.
The Night Circus was pretty awesome. Very whimsical!

Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is fantastic! Seriously, put that one at the top of your list. I thought it was adorable.

  • Kara Young Dickinson

Across the Universe is fabulous. Each book has it’s own set of surprises.

I loved night circus but it is a little strange. Just be in the mood for something different

  • Amy Howard Sasser

The Night Circus, Across the Universe and Thirteen Reasons Why are all excellent, but in very different ways. I highly recommend all three.

  • Sally Gnat

The Night Circus is amazing and wonderfully lyrical! The only way I can imagine someone not liking it is if they don’t like magic or lots of detailed description.

  • Stacy Schnettler

Loved the Archived series. Just finished Darker Shade of Magic and really did not enjoy it (I thought it dragged out). NIght Circus was fantastic. First Miss Peregrine’d book was good. Sequel not as strong.

  • Philip Mills

I’m currently writing a paper on why adults read Young Adult Fiction it would be great to get some of your opinions.

I hope you love Wildwood Dancing! It charmed the hell out of me, and I’m still thinking about it, more than a year after reading it.

  • Nori

Yay, I’m not the only one who has LOVED Since You’ve Been Gone yet not read Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour! *whew*

  • Stephanie

I still need to read Wildwood Dancing too! Sometimes I think I don’t read everything from an author I really love because I don’t want there to be no new books of theirs out there in the universe that I haven’t read. It seems sad. Denying myself the pleasure for delayed gratification? Maybe just lazy? lol.

I enjoyed Across The Universe! It was a very interesting setting/storyline.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is so good. And they are coming out with a movie! Hope you get to it soon.

  • Rida

Gilt by Katherine Longshore was good but I personally enjoyed Brazen by her even better!! Give it a try and please review it on your blog then! I love reading your reviews :)

  • Terrill Harris Rosado

I need to read Jenny Han’s books, as well. I have read Morgan Matson’s first two books and enjoyed them both, especially Second Chance Summer. Since You’ve Been Gone had such mixed reviews and I think that is why I have delayed reading it. I am so excited that you liked it so much. It gives me hope.
