Top Ten Tuesday: For the Love of Blogging

Top Ten Tuesday and was started by The Broke and the Bookish! You can join the fun too by hopping over to the site and checking out their post!

When I saw today’s topic, I knew I had to join in on this awesome discussion! It’s the Top Ten Reasons Why I Love Book Blogging!

An example of how I aimed too high this year...

1Combining my two loves– I have a strong passion for writing and reading. I always have, and that’s why I pursued a career in the writing industry. After my husband urged me to start up this blog, I realized that I could combine these two amazing things in one place. I’m so thankful I listened to him! 😀

2Meeting others who share my passion- If there’s one thing I love more than reading and writing, it’s talking to people about reading and writing!! I LOVE sharing the things that I’m excited about! I literally cannot shut up about books I’m obsessed with. Blogging is this fabulous interactive experience where you get to meet others who contribute to a giant discussion about all of these things! I’m so blessed to have met so many people who I can share with all things books!!

3Reading  new books I might never have heard about- I fully blame my out of control TBR list on other bloggers. There are so many books that I never would have heard about if it wasn’t for the other book blogs I read. It’s amazing how many amazing books I’ve read since I started blogging!

4Connecting with authors- Although I mainly do this on Twitter, blogging is what made me aware that I could connect directly with authors though social media. It’s so exciting to post a glowing review and actually get the chance to tell the author about it! The power of social media should not be underestimated.

5Challenging myself to read more- So, I entered this little challenge to read 100 books in a year. I’m not doing too well at it, as I’m only reading about a book a week. But, at least I was inspired to aim high, right?

6Challenging my creativity- Coming up with new post ideas is super exciting and really pushes me to create unique content. I love this process and feel like it’s expanding my brain power.

7Helping others discover new books- A few readers have sent emails or comments saying that they read a book I suggested and loved it. This. Makes. My. DAY! Every time. I only hope I can steer people in the direction of rockin’ reads.

8Growing as a writer- Blogging every day has really inspired me to BRING IT! I want to be the best writer I can be and become more and more proficient every time I post. I am seriously my own worst critic, so seeing mistakes on my blog only encourages me to makes things as perfect as they can be.

9Encouragement to stay informed on what’s going on in the publishing world- In following authors, publishers and other bloggers on Twitter, I’ve really seen how valuable it is to stay on top of the publishing industry just to see where it’s going. Plus, it’s great to pass on this information to readers and other bloggers.

10A chance to work toward my future goals- Although I have a degree in journalism, I decided not to pursue that career field after I graduated. Instead I went into web writing, and have absolutely loved it! Blogging is just another way for me to work toward my career goals and invest time into a medium that is dominating our culture.

Great list! I agree that book blogging does satisfy the need to read, write and connect. And it’s such a fun creative endeavor. Glad you are enjoying blogging. Happy reading!

I love that you said challenge your creativity! I feel the same way! I’m always trying to come up with new spins on things and think of thought-provoking discussions. Love all your other reasons as well but I really agree with this one because I feel the same way! I’ve even started vlogging and challenging myself that way and I’ve found I really enjoy making videos!

Jamie, the funniest part is that I think The Broke and the Bookish is one of the most creative book blogs out there! I love the unique take it as on blogging and the awesome resource it is for college kids (oh, the days…).

I think vlogging is next on my post ideas too. I’m just a big dork and would like to avoid people seeing that side of me too soon. lol

Great reasons to blog! :) I have to agree with them all. And I love meeting all the great people I’ve meet out here, bloggers, readers, and authors alike. There are so many I would not have meet if it weren’t for blogging. :) Great list!
