How I Got the Book:Bought

Description:

“Mara Dyer doesn’t believe life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.

Chilling, Suspenseful & Stunning

Sometimes going into a book totally blind is the biggest favor you can give yourself.

I think about when I saw the movie Inception- my husband and I went to see that movie knowing nothing about it other than a few, very brief ads in theaters. I believe that part of what blew my mind about Inception was not knowing too much about it up front.

Maybe you can see where this is going- other than what you read in the description, I’m not going to tell you anything about The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. It’s not to torture you, it’s to do you a FAVOR.

However, I will give you the following advice:

  • Finish the book you’re reading quickly. I’m talking warp speed. Ok…who are we kidding? PUT IT DOWN RIGHT NOW. Don’t finish it. It won’t be as good as The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
  • Don’t read anything else about the book than the description. I’m begging you! Groveling!
  • Grab the following: A Pillow. A blanket. A cup of tea/coffe (maybe some pie for good measure). Your favorite couch/chair/bed. NOW GO!

Overall:

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer has officially made my best books of 2011 list.I absolutely fell in love with the story, the writing and, most of all, Mara Dyer and her past and future. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is the type of story that takes a hold of you and doesn’t let go.

I’m about to read this next, so it’s fab to read such a positive review of it before I start (I am going to finish the book I’m currently reading, though – it’s very good, too!)

You remember a couple of weeks ago when you said you were tired of the high school settings with the cliched characters? I’m kinda feeling like that right now and I just started Mara. I love the part of the story that focuses on what Mara is going through in her head, I’m not liking the rest: the pretty, blond mean girl, the perfect love interest who everybody else wants…. Maybe I need to put this down and come back to it later. What I need to be reading is Modelland for our review.

Whoa! Glad I have this book in my physical TBR pile! (Which is uh, on top of my bookcase.) It really does look great! I’ve been resisting peeking at it because I don’t want to know too much about it, either. Will have to read it soon!
